Last Call For Contributors

So, it seems to be coming together gradually.

And the first gig of the Lady Maisery spring tour is, conveniently enough (for me), in London. Which seems like the perfect occasion to launch the fanzine.

What this means is that I ideally need to have received all contributions by 30th January, in order to get it printed in time.

So this is a last call for contributions - anything Lady Maisery-related will be gratefully received:
  • Fan art (and crafts)
  • Gig photos (not necessarily of the Maiseries themselves - could be of the venue, or of you at a gig)
  • Gig reviews, impressions, memories
  • Anything else you can think of
Please note: All contributors included in the magazine will be credited, and a link to their blog/website included (if applicable).  Contributors will also receive a free copy of the magazine once it's printed.

The address to send your submissions to is londonfolkmusic [at] gmail dot com
Please include your name and location, together with twitter name or email address if you'd like those included, and URL if applicable.

Cut Them Out in Black Velvet

Experiments in fan art #2: Cut Them Out in Black Velvet

These are intended to be sewn onto more colourful backgrounds, but first I thought I'd see what they looked like black on white. Obviously, they'd be a lot better done in paper (which now I will have to do), but, you know, velvet does seem far more apt.

How Not To Make Lady Maisery Biscuits

It started well, I thought. Using paper templates and a sharp knife, I ended up with these, which I thought looked reasonable. (By the way, I used Nigella's 'Butter Cut-out Biscuits' recipe from 'How To Be A Domestic Goddess')

Then it all started to go wrong.  I made what I now realise to be a fatal error, and decided to try out some shop-bought icing. Never again.  The main problem is the consistency, which just doesn't have the same versatility or stickability as proper icing.

So these are my interim Lady Maisery biscuits, pending another batch with a much better effort on the icing front...
